Sparks

A cutler in Thiers, in the Auvergne, begins to shape a knife from a bar of steel.

Thiers is one of the main centres for cutlery in France, turning out ordinary tableware but also every other kind of edged steel imaginable, from penknives to sabres.

Taken on a cycling holiday years ago.

A very fun shot. That must be fascinating to watch.

Love how the relatively slow shutter speed allowed the sparks to leave trails.

Very well done. Their life sure got easier when hand held electric grinders came along

That's a really fine image, John. The composition, the line of the sparks, and the emphasis on tool and hands make for a fine image!
