Wax, no, but the underside of white oak leaves are covered w tiny hairs, which repel water

Are leaves like waxed cars? It sure seems so, the way the droplets form on them. Like water off a duck.

I agree about the earthy palette and the use of dof is also very effective, bringing attention to those crystalline drops. --Stefan
