Sittin in my bedroom late last night
got into bed and turned out the light
decided to call my baby on the telephone
all I got was a busy tone
its off the hook...
...Talkin so long she upset my mind
why are you talking such a long time
maybe she's sleeping maybe she's ill
phones disconnected unpaid bill
it's off the hook...
...Don't wanna see her fraid of what I find
tired of lettin her upset me all the time
back into bed started reading my book
take my phone right off of the hook
it's off the hook...
'Off the Hook' was released in the UK on the album 'The Rolling Stones No. 2' (1965), as well as on the US album 'The Rolling Stones, Now!' (1965).
It was also the B-side of the Stonesī hit record 'Little Red Rooster' in 1964.
The song is one of the earliest own compositions by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and one of the first that really impressed me when I was young.
For the rest of the month I will post my Top Five favourites by the Stones.
'Off the Hook' is my personal No. 5.
