To talk about Briones is to talk about one of the municipalities with the richest heritage in the whole of La Rioja. It is the only town of the mancomunidad, or community of municipalities, to be located on the right bank of the river Ebro and it has a privileged location perched atop a hill whose northern slope is cut away by the river into an almost vertical slope. It offers extensive views over the Ebro valley and Rioja Alta area with a virtually unmatched panoramic view of the vineyards, the river Ebro, the surrounding villages and the Sierra de la Demanda. In 2006, Briones had a population of 878 inhabitants.
