These animals are suited to high altitudes and are typically found only in the Himalayas. They have larger heart and lungs than domestic cattle, and are three times more efficient at extracting nutrients from grazing sources. They have extremely heavy coats, a layer of subcutaneous fat and no sweat glands, hence they are subject to heat exhaustion at temperature above 59ºF and are rarely if ever found in zoos.
