Thousands and thousands of Starlings gathers to their sleeping quarters in a small town on the German Border. A sight that can be seen in September and October before their journey south. The phenomenom is also known as "Black Sun".

Nice photo of one of my favourite wildlife spectacles Torben. We're lucky to get Starling murmurations in my home town of Blackpool all winter, I'm just waiting for a nice sunset and I'll be out trying to get some shots.

I saw a similar flock like this yesterday, Torben. Great shot of this one. Have you heard the term "murmuration"? I don't know if it refers just to starling flocks or not. I believe it is a term used for that rolling around motion that large blackbird flocks do.
