The ruins of the castle Thurant (also Thurandt) stands on a broad spur of shale above the village of Alken on the Mosel. It is located in the district of Mayen-Koblenz (Rhineland-Palatinate)
and belongs to the type of spur castles. A special feature - in addition to its location on the steep hill - the vineyards are on the sunny side.
