Xiasi Dog or Miao Dog (as in dog of the Miao people) have distinctive characteristics and traits which make them ideal hunting dogs. Their lean muscular bodies, padded paws, and powerful legs are bred to follow any fast and agile prey. Xiasi also have a keen sense of smell combined with incredible speed and stamina. Though they display no mercy to prey or enemies, Xiasi dogs are very loyal and affectionate to their owners. The adult dog weighs from 22 to 66 pounds, with a height ranging from 17 to 20 inches. The length to height ratio is 1:1. The dog has a short white pelt, a large face with pointed ears, small eyes and a wide mouth. The dog's skin appears red around its nose, mouth and ears.
