Just a brief update to say hello to all my Pbase friends from our new posting. I’m so sorry, but I simply haven’t had time to comment or even post any pictures (not that I could take any last night when I saw something quite attractive but was told it might be a security risk to photograph – it was a mosque at the airport). It was a very long day (I would say 22 hours by the time I finally got to bed); our plane had to sit on the tarmac at 11:15 p.m. because our parking space “wasn’t yet vacated”; it took a long time to get our passports, luggage and dog handled, thankfully by an expeditor; the locks on both our outside doors were broken so we spent an hour trying to get into our new quarters but finally managed to break in; and then it took a few more hours to get me set up to work online today. I got to bed at 4 a.m. Oh, and although it’s relatively cool here right now, the A/C in our quarters refuses to be turned off so I am already getting sick from the cold. Sahraa, our Kuwaiti desert dog, is very unhappy as well; hopefully she’ll start to feel at home soon. At least the Internet works here, which was my one demand prior to arrival! Hopefully will get back to “normal,” whatever that is, soon!

PS It appears that all my favorites'images are blocked. How interesting is that.
