Clad

Washington, DC view map

Catching the Washington Monument clad in scaffolding and gorgeous coppery sunset light.
The monument was in the midst of a refurbishment to repair damage cause by an earthquake
on 23 Aug 2011 that measured 5.8. That is a really significant event for that part of the country.

While I wasn't too thrilled with how much of the area around the monument was fenced off, I
was pleased to see that they rigged the scaffolding with lighting that added a visual element at night.

I cloned out a sky crane on the lower left to make for a cleaner BG.

Click on the image below for a closer look of the cranes from the other side of the monument:

Even the scaffolding adds a nice design element to the image. The light and flags unfurled in unison really look excellent. ~BV~

A striking image. Rising into the blue like that, and all gilded, it looks futuristic. V

Fascinating image Sam and most unusual too. I lived in DC for 14 years and never saw it like this. "V"

You got the shot I still haven't gotten in almost a month here ;-). Superb capture, Sam, and particularly nice that you got the flags flying so well. V.
