Cappadocia is Turkey's most visually striking region, especially the "moonscape" area around the towns of Ürgüp, Göreme, Uchisar, Avanos and Mustafapasa (Sinasos) where erosion has formed caves, clefts, pinnacles, "Fairy chimneys" and sensuous folds in the soft volcanic rock.
