At the area where the Bluefish River blends into Duxbury Bay, a surprisingly large group of Forster's Terns (14) was flying up and down the channel at incoming mid-tide. Occasionally a few would light on a swimmers raft just offshore from King Caesar Road that was covered with Laughing and Ring-billed Gulls, and I was able to get this photo from the car at a tiny pulloff near the raft. Terns have been unusually scarce in the Bay this year - always a few Commons, but typically there would be dozens. Today I had only 3 Common Terns in addition to these 14 Forster's.
