Found this funny carousel at Canet, a little coastal town near Barcelona.
This town lived a great prosperity in the late 19th early 20th centuries, that left some really beautiful buildings and a very special air of "fin de siècle".
They celebrate every year a modernist fair to bring again these years to the life.

What is very interesting about this image is that the man peddling actually looks very engaged in his occupation. I recall vividly at fairgrounds the operators are decidedly younger and bored whereas this fellow dinosaur seems very happy in his job.

This is such an eco-friendly way of doing things ... no motor, no gas, just human muscle. I love the shot! It is unique.

I got it now. The man was actually pedaling the carousel. I should have recognized it, since he right at the front. Instead, my eyes were wandering to the carousel in the back.

That's a great way to stay in shape and have fun doing it! I think that is just a great ride for the kiddies. Very sweet shot. I've never seen another one of these before. I like your description too.
