Boab trees are a feature of the landscape of the Kimberley and Victoria River Districts of north-western Australia.
Notwithstanding a seeming capacity to store water in the swollen trunks, these trees are deciduous during the long hot tropical dry season (typically 6 to 9 months each year) experienced in these areas.
