moped problems 1.jpg

Dear Fred , your reply has excluded the issue of those who are operating on our roadways who have never opened a drivers manual in their lives. Now we can move on to those who have disregarded the law and safety who once hasd a license. Allow me to respectfully ask you what is the reason that the law requires a persons license to be revoked after so many points ? Its called a deterrent. Punishment. No drivers license means no driving. Your supposed to be taken off the road to curb your bad behaviour and I'm not talking about running a stop sign or passing on a double yellow line. Im talking about 12 points. Im talking about repeated violations, Im talking about habitually ignoring the law, Im talkin about DWI's ! You said " Some of these have made a mistake in the past and are trying to turn things around. " You call 12 points or a DWI a mistake ? Oops officer, Im sorry, that bottle accidentally fell in my mouth and somebody forced me behind the wheel. I can't ingest that. Even so, the penalty for their mistake should be more than allowing them to continue driving on our roads ( but now NOTHING is required of them beyond being 16, an ID and a helmet ); its kind of sickening. Yes they still need to go to work but I still need to go to work too, thats why I respect the liberty that I have earned. Let em suffer by taking a bus or taxi. Make em ride a bicycle ( stay off the road when a car gets behind you ). Bum rides from whoever they can. Make em sweat their mistakes. 10's of thousands have made it without a moped who have lost their license in the past. Then there are those who continue their bad habits or addictions with drinking/drugs and driving. Do you think driving a moped is so miserable that their behaviours will be curtailed ? Ive asked this question before, why do those who lose their license get to continue to enjoy the privaledges we do, WITHOUT the responsibilities that the law requires of us who do obey the law ? Where is the logic ? You wrote " I just do not like the government so involved with individual liberties. " I love the law being involved with the liberty that we EARN by obeying the law. Its for our safety. There are supposed to be reprocussions for bad behaviour. The only reprocussion a moped driver who has lost his license suffers is having to go slower and the weather. Not a very fair trade for drinking and driving and a worse trade when you dont make them continue paying insurance. O and how he's getting 100 miles to the gallon. Hell NC law has made it an incentive to lose your license !
