Barbican

Barbican, London

I was speaking at a conference here today. Popped outside briefly to take a picture but it was cloudy and raining. The building won't be to everyone's taste - archetypal 1970s brutalism. The inside is actually a lot more pleasant than the exterior would suggest.

Wonderful perspective of this style of building, like others I have seen worse...
particularly like the flower beds...

Great POV for this great capture. The bright flowers on the balconies certainly give some relief from the "1970s brutalism." V.

I've seen far less attractive concrete buildings, I'd even go so far as to say that I like its prickliness.
Hope the talk went well.

Its nice to see some of the planting troughs in use. we went to a cousin's wedding in the main civic centre and it was a very nice environment. This complex by Chamberlain Powell & Bon has come under the simplistic 'brutalist' umbrella a little unfairly.... compared to Owen Luder's shopping centres (consistently voted the worst building in UK, but I think mostly demolished now)

Very nice capture with that light. Love your expression of 1970s brutalism.V.
