Sue and I climbed up the almost 400 foot height of the campanile (tower)on what was likely the hottest day of the year. The view to the Duamo and out across the city in all directions was spectacular.

I loved the way that the bell, the dome and the light came together in one of my favs.

Il Duomo di Firenze, as it is ordinarily called, was begun in 1296 and is a massive cathedral in a city of incredible architecture.
