We arrived at Rocky Mountain National Park today. We entered on the west side and drove through the park on Trail Ridge Road to Estes Park where we plan a two night stay. This particular road goes as high as 12,200 feet which is pretty cool. The thing I found disconcerting was the shear drop offs at the edge of the road. We stopped several places along the way including the Holzwarth Ranch. This was pretty interesting. It is a testimony to what can be accomplished if you never give up. Ginny took the opportunity to try on a buffalo coat which weighed 20 pounds. Unfortunately, the weather started to get rainy toward the end of the day, so we cut short one hike. This National Park is really quite something to see. If I were to do it again, I would come the week after Labor Day when everybody has gone back to school and to work.

I need to keep up with the times.
I thought buffalo were "protected"?
