RUTILE on SMOKY QUARTZ

From Juve quarry, Svelvik, Vestfold, Norway.

This rutile crystal on smoky quartz was found by Atle Mikalsen on a collection trip we had to Juve quarry on Saturday 10. August 2013.
Rutile crystals were also found as inclusions in the smoky quartz.
The locality is about 200 m on the upper side of the quarry.

The rutile contains approx. 3 % Iron and Niob . (TiO2 88,8% FeO 4,89% Nb2O3 5,3%).

Size: The crystal is 10 mm in diameter.
