The coloured Triclinium. 200 BC - 200 AD. This striking chamber is situated opposite the Tomb of the Soldier and is the only room in a funerary complex at Petra that has carved architectural decorations on its interior surfaces. It was a funerary banqueting hall,. decorated with engaged columns and niches and was originally covered with painted stucco. The stucco has fallen away to reveal the natural colours of the rock from which the room was hewn. . Text from notice on site.
