We spent the last part of the hike with Ulrike and Geunter, a very nice couple from Germany. We were lucky they spoke English well so we had a nice conversation on the way to Passo delle Erbe. They offered to give us a ride to San Martin in Val Badia and before we left we had some post hike refreshments at the restaurant at the pass. We intended to buy their drinks, but they were sneaky and paid the bill before we could get to it. It was a pleasure meeting them!
