Rifugio Preuss is a restaurant perched near Vajolet. In the background you can see the pass we came over. It's the large snowy patch on the left. Um, yea, that was crazy!

Rifugio Vajolet can accommodate 130 and it was about half full. We easily got our own room and we opted for the half board. Dinner was terrific. For the first course we had small dumplings with speck and tagliatelle with venison. Second course was a cheese and zucchini strudel and salad for me and a mixed meat plate with polenta and mushrooms for Steve. Dessert was chocolate cake with sauce and strawberries with whipped cream.

We shared a table with a nice couple from Hong Kong/Japan (Franny and Tanikawa) and Gertraud from Berlin. We got a lot of info about the trail conditions and possible routes, as well as some fun chit chat.
