Blanding's Turtle

This area used to be a sterile sandpit without any vegetation on shore or in the
water. Over the years plants have gradually appeared, then frogs,geese and ducks.
Blanding's turtle's carapace is supposed to grow to 10" max but this fellow was
that and more - thought he was a snapper from his size at a distance. I was able
to get just one far away shot before he disappeared into the water. This is the second
Blanding's I've seen at the Centre this year - a good sign for conservation.
