There is a religious focus to the destival on March 17th and 18th with a Catholic procession known as the Ofrenda de Flores a la Virgen de los Desamparados. This beautiful ceremony honours Valencia’s patron saint. Thousands of Falleras and Falleros take to the streets wearing traditional costumes and dancing to their neighbourhood or village bands as they wend their way to the Plaza de la Virgen to offer bouquets to the giant image of the Virgin – as many as 150,000 people are involved.
