The other evening I was visiting with an Old Order Mennonite family that I have become very good friends with and it was getting near sunset. It was a particularly beautiful evening. Mild temperatures and beautiful clouds. David suggested we all go for a ride in his Spring Wagon, a two-bench seat open horse drawn wagon. He loaded up four of his children and me and off we went over the country hills and through the woods. We went flying along pulled by his willing horse. The children were in great spirits and I was having a grand old time. It was a perfect end to a wonderful day on the farm. The more time I spend with these wonderful hard working people the more I’m convinced they have found the key to enjoying the truly important things in life. Hard work, family, and a oneness with the land, nature and the animals.
