BEWARE OF THE DOG

Wyeth’s studio originally began as a schoolhouse in 1875 and served in that capacity until the 1920s.
Andrew's father, the artist N.C. Wyeth, purchased the building for his newly married son, Andrew, and daughter-in-law, Betsy, to live and work in.
Andrew and Betsy raised their 2 sons, Nicholas and Jamie in this small 3 bedroom, 1 bath home.
The Wyeths moved to a larger home in Chadds Ford in the early 1960s; however, Wyeth continued to use the building as his studio until his death in January, 2009—nearly seven decades of creativity in one spot.

We have a few of these old homes here too. It would have been quite a wealthy owner, back in the late 1880's

Awesome Stephanie. The Wyeth's presence is known in midcoast Maine also. The Farnsworth Art Museum has an amazing collection.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farnsworth_Art_Museum

Great to see this Steph in this well composed image. I have just finished reading a biography of Andrew Wyeth, so it is nice to see the studio where he painted so many of temperas. "V"
