The more I read about this marvelous bench, the more in awe of it I am. It was designed by Gaudí but created by Josep Maria Jujol, a close associate who collaborated with him on many projects. There were such hordes of people, I couldn't really photograph much of the bench, but definitely will next time we're in Barcelona -- in the early morning hours, as Jose suggested.
These last eight pictures posted are all of the very popular public square atop the market hall:
The square, although oval in shape, is situated on top of the columned market hall. It was designed for residents to be able to enjoy public events as well as engage in conversation, facilitated by the unique configuration of the serpentine bench. The bench itself is decorated with trencadis (broken ceramic) work that features signs of the zodiac as well as religious and other symbols.
