Since it was so hot, we started our days at 6am and were done in the field by noon. We spent the rest of the day in the pool at Furnace Creek. I don't recall anyone else being crazy enough to be in Death Valley at the hottest time of year, so I don't think anyone else was there. Here are some of us studying for a test. I remember that as soon as we'd leave the water, it would instantly evaporate (yes, it's a DRY heat.) We camped in Death Valley also, and I recall that it was quite cool at night.
