Traditional German beach chairs ('Strandkorben') are everywhere on the island.
The (replica) 'Memmert lighthouse' at the port has no nautical importance, not even for the ferries.
It was built here in 1992 thanks to the 'Juister Heimatverein' (Juist Historical Society).
The orginal tower (1939) on Memmert, a small sandy island between Borkum and Juist, was similar in appearance.
