We feel that the Shimano 2000 GT single-action salmon reel is the best salmon reel to FIGHT a fish on...the drag is very consistent because the spool diameter is positively HUGE compared to a multiplier type reel, especially if there is a lot of line already off of the reel when downrigger fishing deep, or when diver fishing with say 200 to 250 feet of line let out so the Deep Six #2 diver can reach depth of approximately 100 to 125 feet. Use 35 to 80 pound spectra line when diver fishing at deep depths.
