This bustling city of almost 7 million people is contained within a narrow valley. The overwhelming impression here of mass vehicles and humanity - there are about 2 million scooters on the road sharing space with another 2 million cars- like all Asian cities that I have experienced, it is very crowded and everything is on top of each other.
The scooters (mopeds) accumulate at the front of the line in orderly blocks at each traffic light. Then when the light turns green, it's a motor scooter speed fest. This image was created by slowing the shutter speed down at the green light and trying to visually demonstrate in a still photograph the controlled chaos of Taipei traffic. In post processing I exaggerated the colors and contrast range to further illustrate the feeling of standing on the corner watching at a green light.
