Happy July 4th

Sugar Land TX

Look what I found today.
Tom and I were driving to buy groceries and I saw a big lizard sunning in the road.
It was a 4 lane road that is often busy with traffic. I knew it had to be an escaped pet.
When I stopped my truck and got out, the lizard ran toward me and stopped at my feet
and looked at me as if to say "Thank God you're here".

He is an adult Bearded Dragon, about 18 inches from tip to tail. (that's 46 cm)
He was very dehydrated and thin. I gave him a bath to hydrate him and then we went to the store
for a bag of crickets. He was so weak, we used tweezers to feed him, but he ate 5 big crickets.
I have a pen fixed up for him, but I'm afraid my house is too cold and I don't have a hot rock or heat lamp for him.
Tom closed off the A/C vent in the spare room so hopefully it will warm up in there a little.
I don't know who he belongs to. He's very friendly so must be someone's pet.
This was a quick snap that I took when we first found him. I'll take better pics tomorrow.

I missed this. You are very good to take him in. I wouldn't have a clue what to do if I found one of these although I guess they wouldn't survive very long in our cool damp climate.

St Francis would smile on you for this act. Nice! I am not a lizard guy but this one had character!.

Your cat? Finn- is he looking for a snack with this guy?

Do you have a heating pad that you can set him on (in a box or aquarium)? That would help warm him up.
He's a real cutie! Hopefully you'll be able to find his owner. :) V

Do you have a heating pad? I am so happy you are doing this.
We put baby squirrels on heating pads.

Cool find. Definitely someone's pet, unless this one managed to make its way over from Australia all by itself!

He is so, so beautiful. Poor little guy... he must have been frantic being out in the busy world. It was serendipity that you came along just then. How lucky for the lizard that he ran into you. You are wonderful for doing this. VV

It was the lizard's lucky day finding such a kind and caring person! Now hopefully its owner can be found...perhaps that might be like finding a needle in a haystack.

Nice of you to save him... probably wouldn't have survived the day otherwise!
