There was extensive damage from the floods and mudslides of 3 years ago, throughout many parts of the city, from the seafront right up into the hills above, when the three rivers that flow down to the sea burst their banks and deposited 150,000 cubic metres of rock at their mouths. Pictured is the plan on the hoardings enclosing the large redevelopment of the promenade which is slowly taking place and expected to take another 18 months to complete.
