Antiques !!

Ashbourne view map

Antiques ! it so says on the window.
In this shot are a Triton , a Goldie and another Triton is just visible behind the BSA.
I would sell my soul for any of these; (there were a BSA twin a Triumph twin and a Douglas also in the same shop.)
I still have the goosebumps, not sure if it is the lust for the machinery or the realisation that these are 50+ years old and appear to be in far better fettle than I am :-)

I never did own a Goldie, the nearest I got were a pair of "Goldie" exhaust pipes on a CB72 ! At 9,000 rpm that made a nice noise too, but the roar was not all. The whistle/twitter from the exhaust was unique to the big single and still raises the hairs on my arms. Don't even mention Castrol R, I have been know to follow that smell, rather like one of the "Bisto Kids" for miles on the roads even when there was a chance to go past, just following with a big grin on my face . :-)

My first bike was a Douglas 350 Sports Twin.
I owned a Gold star. You need two souls to buy a Goldie, or more, they are worth it.
The older you get, the more nostalgia hurts.
I am in a lot of pain right now.
I can see the road in front of me, hear that exhaust whistle, a unique sound, smell the Castrol R, a unique smell, sheer bloody perfection.
No other bike ever made comes close.
