Paint Party

Seattle, WA

Being an unpainted and non-riding photographer (one of a limited
number invited to the event) amidst a group of body-painted
bicyclists and roller bladders would put anyone out of their
comfort zone. This year the city of Fremont, WA held its 25th
annual Summer Solstice Parade. It was joined for the 10th time
by the unofficial parade entry that you see represented here.

Here are my other photographs of the parade. These show the "official" ensembles, about 35 groups of dancers, musicians, whales, elephants, and other people just celebrating summer: http://www.pbase.com/cbeck/ensembles_2013&page=all

Here is my gallery of painted riders from the parade.

Be advised that this gallery is not "work safe."

I will next be working on the other ensembles (about 35, many of them were bands, and some of the others were quite entertaining) over the next couple days.

A version of Street Photography - and I can understand very well how uncomfortable you would be.

Thanks, Traveller. I have had the pleasure of photographing this parade six times, and my parade photos can be found among the galleries located here:http://www.pbase.com/cbeck/root&page=all. The Fremont Summer Solstice Parade has four rules: No motors (all floats are human powered), no visible words or logos, no live animals, and no real weapons (pirates waving cardboard swords are OK). It is a celebration of summer and of art.

Love it, and loved your full gallery from 2006. Thanks, I'm not sure I would have enough courage to do this....ahem. Traveller

Give me about a week to finish selecting, processing, and posting my parade photos. They will be here:http://www.pbase.com/cbeck/fremont_solstice_parade_2013.

It looks like sunny California.
I love it.
