Milky Way Rising

Mono Lake, near Lee Vining, CA

This is a single 45s exposure catching the view of the central portion
of our galaxy rising behind the Tufas of Mono Lake.

I created an animation of star trails behind some Tufas from a bit earlier that night.
This 25s video represents an hour's worth of actual star motion, looped three times:
