Mercado dos Lavradores...the Farmers Market...a historic building opened in 1940 in the centre of Funchal. Inside there are two floors and a huge central courtyard where vendors engage in a personalized sale of a huge variety of flowers, vegetables, exotic fruits, fish, craftwork and souvenirs. You can even do a bit of tasting before you buy. Some sellers, especially the flower ladies, dress in their traditional colourful costumes.
