Rising from the Chihuahuan desert, El Capitan has long been a landmark for early travelers along the Butterfield Overland Stagecoach route. Just to the north of the iconic El Capitan stands the tallest point in Texas, Guadalupe Peak, at 8749 feet.

Morning is peaceful here in Guadalupe Mountains National Park, and sunrises can be amazing if you arise early enough to enjoy the show.
