Ecstasy on the Beach - Stefan

Horseshoe crabs spawning at high tide under the full moon.
All together, there must have been thousands of these ancient critters.
My tripod broke :-( so I had to use flash (don't know why the exif says I didn't) with the disappointing result that you see.
I'll probably take this down, but at least wanted to share it for a while, Flickr style. :-D

Just seeing these crabs is a sight very few people will see so this is an amazing capture to see them spawning. - Michael

nice, and reminds me, as a kid visiting Cape Hatteras, NC, enjoyed watching them actually swimming, really close to the shore, did not see this frenzy, though,

I just saw this in a nature show I'm recording, until it is out on Blu-ray. It was amazing to see these guys. I think your flash didn't hurt the shot at all. For some reason the use of the flash never shows up in the data here. Anyway, I think your shot captured them well. When a movie is being made they use lights too, so I guess I'm more forgiving of the flash. I guess horseshoe crabs have 10 eyes! Aye, aye, aye!!! -Shirley

Good heavens, crab porn! :) They actually need the full moon to spawn or is that coincidental? Anyhow, I don't see this as disappointing to either the photographer or his subjects. Amazing, really.
