Interesting lifestyle. Female picks male to mate with based on the size of nest he has created & of course his attributes. She lays previously fertilised eggs in his nest to incubate. He manages the nest temperature until they hatch and the chicks are left to fend for themselves. He seeks the next mate.

The chicks don't have a good survival rate due to pet or feral cats in the suburbs. NSW Parks & Wildlife also has 1080 fox baiting programs in many National Parks to rid this introduced pest from these parks.
