When American Oystercatchers are present on Duxbury Beach they often seem to consort with Brant. This morning I heard the distinctive call and turned to see a flock of 11 yBrant headed toward me and when I looked more carfully I spotted the source of the call flying nicely in formation! It flies a bit faster than the Brant and quickly took the lead. These two photos illustrate an incidence of the apparent affiity the AMOY feels for the larger birds.
