Living In A Virtual World

I have of late being questioning how much time I spend in the virtual world instead of living in reality.
There's Pbase, Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, Instamatic, Pinterest, et al making demands on my time and threatening to pull me into the black hole of cyberspace.
There's always something to look at, something to post, something to comment on.
While I value the on-line friendships I've made, the information and inspiration I've gleaned, I sometimes think there are better ways I could be spending my time, especially now that spring is here.
So, if I'm not here as much as I used to be, it's because I've decided to step into the real world - even if it's just to do some ironing!

a balance can be difficult to decide upon...as rewarding as pbase is, it is also time consuming, and involves too much sitting...it's a good alternative to housework though..

I know the feeling, or rather my wife does :-)
Come back soon.

In my opinion it's no different that reading a book or seeing a movie except that it's richer and more varied. And not in the least "unreal".

How right you are! While I value my online Pbase friendships, they have come at the expense of my real world friendships.... I, too, need to spend less time on line ~ but it's so difficult to do!

it is so easy to get stuck in cyberspace to the exclusion of everything else. So although I will miss your photos and comments I think you have made the right decision. Personally, I just do Pbase and occasionally Ships Nostalgia and that's too much really. v (my vote is for you comment!)

Gosh, you use all those sites! Pbase takes up my time and that is enough :-)
I think you've made a good choice, Mairéad.

I know how much pbase takes of my time and don't do the others you mention...enjoy the bottom of your ironing basket, but don't be a stranger here will you :0)

I don't blame you a bit. We're connected in ways we don't even think about. Get out and enjoy spring!

Its not all its cracked-up to be in the real world. They have bills and horrible things.

A good idea, I applaud. I decided some time ago to spend my allocated on-line time on PBase. Facebook etc. really don't interest me.

Words of wisdom but sometimes the virtual world can help us too...

I feel the same - so much tempting stuff to look at and learn but I think you're doing the right thing and after all most of us will still be here when you call back! ;)

I understand entirely! I haven't gotten to the point of returning to the real world yet ;-).

Good luck in the "real world"
