Breaking camp after a stormy night. In the early hours of August 5th 2010 a lightning storm passed over our camp, the likes of which none of us had ever seen.
Nearly continuous lightning strikes of the ridges on both sides of the valley went on for about an hour.
Some camps in the lower Markah valley were destroyed and some trekkers lost their lives in the following flood.
That same night a number of buildings and homes were destroyed in Leh and the surrounding area. 85 people were killed that night.
