THE PARACHUTE REGIMENT

THE PARACHUTE REGIMENT AND AIRBORNE FORCES MEMORIAL
Dedicated: 12 July 2012

Commemorates: The memorial is dedicated to all those who have served in the Parachute Regiment and the Airborne Forces.

The dedication of the memorial coincided with the extended 70th Anniversary of both regiments.

The memorial depicts Bellerophan (mythological Greek hero), sitting astride the flying horse Pegasus with a spear in his hand, and a modern day paratrooper pulling in his bergen. Pegasus and Bellerophan appear on the traditional badge of the Airborne Forces and the standing paratrooper is in jump order representing the Regiment itself.
