Yellow Kapok. Tue 9.

you might have noticed a tree, with
yellow flowers, to the left of the Boab in yesterday’s photo. It’s a Yellow
Kapok Cochlospermum fraseri, and The Kimberley Aboriginal People
believe that the freshwater Crocodiles lay their eggs when it is flowering.

The green kidney shaped pods eventually turn brown and split along
the seams to release their seeds which are woven into a dense mat
of fine silky hairs; This hair is used as body decorations in ceremonies.
Rainfall for Buderim over the last 24 hours; 5•5 mm.
