Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
was established, in 1947, by a beekeeper and flower grower (Alex Griffiths)
who began feeding Rainbow lorikeets at the “Currumbin Bird Sanctuary”, as
it was known until 1995. It was re-named “Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary” to
better reflect the diversity of animals on display such as The largest salt-water
crocodile in captivity on the Australian mainland. The crocodile which Thomas
and Zoe are holding is not the “largest,” but, one of the smaller crocs on show.
