Comet C/2011 L4 (aka PANSTARRS), as seen over Hedmark, SE Norway, on March 22nd 2013 at 20:45 GMT +1 (CET).
Actually, it's right above my home here, as you can see the house in the lower right corner.
Combined with the pale moonlight (75% lit) and a Tawny Owl (Strix aluco) howling close by, it all made up for a rather special mood... :)
Next time this comet visits is a 106 000 years from now. What will it be like then, I wonder... Maybe we're all up there with it, when that time comes? ;)
Ref: PANSTARRS in Wikipedia:
"Comet C/2011 L4 probably took millions of years to come from the Oort cloud. After leaving the planetary region of the Solar System, the post-perihelion orbital period
is estimated to be roughly 106 000 years. Dust and gas production suggests the comet nucleus is roughly 1 kilometer (0.62 mi) in diameter."
