25 February - Unloved?

Are pennies still worth having now that they are virtually worthless?
Canada has taken the decision with prices to be rounded off to the nearest 5 cents.

No matter I still like all coins, and the older the better. Anyone can send any unwanted money to me :0)

pennies are no longer being made here in Canada, or given in change, yet are still valid money..as each 1 cent coin cost 1 1/2 cents to produce, this is worth more than it's face value

Oh yes we did away with Australian one cent coins in 1992. Heaven only knows how much copper is tied up with old jars of these things. Someday such things might be worth real money again. I am not holding my breath though. Beautifully clear picture. V

I love old coins... -- especially ones that have lived a little, like this one obviously has...!

I was going to suggest making necklaces out of them, but remembered that when I did this for Anna when she was about 14, they made a mess of the drill; but you do find which countries are over-serious about their currency

We must keep our coins!
Getting rid of them can only push prices up...

A lucky penny? I like the details in this. It's nearly as old as me.

I'd chuck that one - it's really old and is going mouldy! :o)

Great macro shot with loads of detail. Good luck with the offer to receive coins :-)
