I have an old photograph at home of a covered bridge located in Kentucky. I tried to duplicate that original today by shooting at the covered bridge less than a mile from my home. The original is a 16X20 print from the 1970s and was shot by now pbase artist Pat Hemlepp. His bridge, again shot in the 70s, is an ancient bridge no longer in use. My bridge, shot this morning, is less than three years old. I struggled with the placement of my camera and the angles but could not get the same perspective. I realized my problem was one of width . . the newer bridge is wide enough to accomodate two lanes and then some . . the older bridge is very narrow and was built for one lane, horse and buggy, traffic.
