Necessary Evil

At one point in time I shuttered at the thought of even looking at my camera's sensors.
While two camera bodies reduce the amount of lens changes it still has to be done for longer glass along with the fisheye.
So after reading about this years ago I decided to give it a go.
I clean my cameras a necessary and if it's dust that is always in the way it's time for it to go.
After years of cleaning i'm never afraid to tackle this job......

I do that on a regular basis too.

Try as you might, you will get a dust bunny eventually and the camera's internal sensor clean routine won't remove it. I clean mine when I get so tired of cloning out the same dust bunny from images. I have to admit, photo shops scare the heck out of you when you say you do it yourself but hey, they do the same thing you are doing. If you're careful and use the correct tools there's no problem.

Looks like an interesting challenge, nicely taken! VT!

I've cleaned the sensor a few times. I spoke with a camera shop and they offered to clean it for about $150, but also explained how simple it really is. Swipe left, swipe right....done. About $40 had at least 8 swabs, I think?

I'd break out in hives at the mere thought, but managed to do it on the D3. Once. The D3s has auto cleaning which, for what it is worth, was designed ( iam sure) for the faint-of-heart, like me. Mike - how do you like the V1??

I think doing this, and "Do It Your Self Root Canals" are in the same class... You got brass $*!!'s to do this. Not I. Nope, Not I...
